Description
Bidwell Park is the third largest city park in America and was deeded to the city of Chico in 1905 by General John and Annie Bidwell, Chicos founders. There are 2 distinct sections of the park - Lower and Upper. Lower Park has various picnic areas and playing fields and has a thick canopy of trees and is within Chicos city limits. Upper Park is a vast wilderness section along both sides of Big Chico Creek Canyon. The canyon contains many beautiful swimming holes, and 35 miles of hiking trails. The North and South Rim trails run along the edge of the canyon and provide stunning vistas. This image was taken at the beginning of Upper Bidwell where the open fields are a great place for dogs and people alike to hike and explore.
