Sycamore Pool (or One-Mile, as the locals call it) is a swimming area located in One Mile Recreation Area of lower Bidwell Park. In the 1920's a portion of Big Chico Creek was cemented in order to create the pool. It is a popular swimming destination in the heat of the summer because of its central location, its natural beauty and the fact that it is free.
My name is Abram House and as you can see, I love taking pictures of the outdoors and nature. My love for photography started in 2004 during a trip to the Czech Republic to visit my older brother. I was born in Chico and lived about a half mile from this vantage point. The One Mile is an iconic spot in Chico, as is the Five Mile. As a child I would walk to this place with my classmates from Hooker Oak Elementary School on outings in the spring and fall. Thanks for the nice memories!!! F/V
